About Sarmak Mining Company

Sarmak Mining Company is a knowledge-based company with over 50 years of brilliant experience in the field of mining and processing of minerals. The activity of this complex started in 1351 with the aim of extracting lead from the Angouran mine in Malayer city. Sarmak Company has several registered inventions in the field of mineral processing and is recognized as a provincial model producer and exporter. This company is active in the extraction and exploration of various mines such as the Angouran lead and iron mine in Hamedan province, the Tekieh lead and zinc mine in Arak province, the Chah Badam coal mine in Yazd province, and the Garaveh natural bitumen mine in Kermanshah province.

The main products of Sarmak Mining Company include lead sulfide concentrate, lead and zinc oxide, zinc hydroxide and sulfate, hematite iron ore, Gilsonite and coal. The processing factories of this company are located in the Angouran mining and industrial complex in Malayer, as well as the micronized powder production factory in Biston, Kermanshah.

Angouran Complex Processing Plants

The processing factories of Angouran Mining and Industrial Complex in Malayer, Hamedan Province, include various production lines. These lines include:

  1. Crushing and milling lines: including various crushers and mills.
  2. Processing lines: including various furnaces (such as RHF furnace, modified Wells furnace, dehalogenation furnace, etc.).
  3. Flotation processing lines: It uses column and mechanical cells, and gravity separation lines.

The purpose of these lines is to process all kinds of ores using pyrometallurgy and hydrometallurgy methods. Also, this company has localized and designed up-to-date processing systems for low-grade and resistant ores.

This complex is active in the production of various products, including:

  1. Lead concentrate
  2. Lead and zinc oxide
  3. Zinc hydroxide and zinc sulfate
  4. Iron ore
  5. Production of iron concentrate and sponge iron from hematite (as a development plan)

Innovations of Sarmak Mining Company

Sarmak Mining Company, as a knowledge-based complex, has registered inventions in the field of mineral processing. One of these innovations is the first industrial RHF furnace in Iran.

Unique features of the RHF furnace:

  • Direct reduction of low-grade hematite iron ore.
  • Reduction of reduction time.
  • Significant reduction of environmental pollutants.
  • Ability to recycle valuable metals such as lead and zinc.
  • High flexibility in accepting all kinds of feed.
  • It has an independent dust collection system in different zones.
  • Reducing coal consumption with raw gas injection capability.
  • Precise process control with advanced automation.
  • Extraction of metal oxides from exhaust dust.

This furnace is designed with an outer diameter of 30 meters and a furnace width of 5 meters.

Three-Piece Rotary Reduction Furnace

Sarmak Mining Company has another registered invention: a three-piece rotary reduction furnace. This furnace is designed for processing low-grade and resistant lead, zinc and hematite iron ores.

This furnace has unique features that distinguish it from traditional methods:

  • High efficiency in the extraction of metals such as lead and zinc.
  • Increasing the grade of the final product.
  • Reducing coal consumption by up to one third.
  • Innovative design with the ability to purposefully charge coal in the reduction zone.
  • Reducing operating costs and increasing economic justification.
  • Independent operation of drying, calcination and reduction sections.

This system also has heat recovery from exhaust gases and a dual dust collection system for the product and soft feed particles. Its dust collection line also includes a cyclone, bag filter and wet scrubber.

Processing with Flotation Cells

Sarmak Mining Company uses modern processing methods to increase productivity. In the set of processing factories of Angouran complex, a combination of column and mechanical flotation cells is used.

The advantages of using a combination of these cells include the following:

  • Rehabilitation of tailings dams.
  • Reducing operating costs.
  • Increasing flotation efficiency.

The column flotation cell has its own advantages:

  • Using a self-priming Venturi sparger that does not require a blower fan.
  • Producing very fine bubbles for flotation of micron particles.
  • Possibility of flotation of finer particles.
  • Reducing initial investment costs.
  • Reducing the area required for the construction of the factory.

These methods allow the company to process minerals more efficiently and reduce costs.

Solution and Spray Dryer

Sarmak Mining Company uses the solution and spray dryer process to produce pure zinc sulfate powder.

Solution: In this step, zinc oxide is washed with sulfuric acid to produce a clear zinc sulfate solution. Then, impurities are separated from this solution.

Spray Dryer: The concentrated zinc sulfate solution is sprayed into the spray dryer tower. This solution comes into contact with hot air in the opposite direction and dries quickly. The final product is white zinc sulfate powder.

  • Pure zinc sulfate powder.
  • High solubility in water.
  • Lowest amount of heavy metal impurities.
  • Suitable for agricultural use.
  • This spray dryer tower has a diameter of 8 meters and a height of 22 meters.

 

Smelting and Refinery Furnaces

Sarmak Mining Company uses smelting and refining furnaces to produce its products. The smelting process in these furnaces is done in an alkaline and environmentally friendly manner.

Features of the smelting process:

  • Rehabilitation of furnace slag in order to discharge metals

  • Stabilizing sulfur in slag instead of releasing it as gas

  • Using complete dust collection lines and refining exhaust gases with various scrubbers

The company also performs the refining process pyrometallurgically. The purpose of this process is to completely remove impurities from the products.

Pneumatic Electric Hammer Device

This device is used to produce steel balls, which gives special characteristics to the final product:

  • Creating a smooth surface and a perfect roundness
  • Improving the mechanical properties of the ball
  • Significantly increasing the strength and durability of the ball

Induction Melting Furnaces

These furnaces are used for three main purposes:

  • Melting waste
  • Alloying
  • Casting

The heat treatment and refractory brick baking furnace of this furnace is used for heat treatment and baking processes of all kinds of chamotte and alumina bricks needed in the industry.
